Hi, I’m Juels.
I was born and raised on San Juan Island, where my love for cooking began in my childhood kitchen. My mother made everything from scratch and taught 4-H cooking classes, sparking my passion for fresh, homemade food. As a teenager, I started my professional career under chef and artist Gretchen Allison, the former owner of Duck Soup Restaurant.
In 2000, I moved to the beautiful island of Kaua’i, where I met my husband, Angus Killick, and launched my first business, Garden Isle Chef Services. My commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients earned me an incredible clientele, including Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet, Sean and Paula Stussy, Will Smith, Michael Crichton, and Tony Hawk. For five years, I worked as Ben and Christine Stiller’s personal chef and still cook for them when I visit Kaua’i.
After a decade running Garden Isle Chef Services, my family and I moved back home to San Juan Island. I took a break while my daughter was little, and in 2018, I founded Salmonberry Catering. My focus is on clean, beautiful food made with fresh, local ingredients while supporting small farms and businesses. As an active member of my hometown community, I’m passionate about making locally organized events accessible and affordable.
I love collaborating with people to bring their vision to life, creating meals that are as meaningful as they are delicious. Food is art—an expression of place, season, and community—and I’m passionate about making every event feel special through thoughtful, beautifully crafted dishes. I look forward to working with you and making your event unforgettable!
